On Vice Presidents, Deputy Governors and Authority...
We know the fact that the scale of the
role of Vice Presidents and deputy governors in most parts of the world tilts
more to ceremonial roles.
But the people fail to sympathize with
them based on this knowledge.
They are questioned, “What did you do
while in office?”
Well I’ll tell you what they did. They
could only do as much as their principals allowed them to. They could only be
as good and productive as their head. Attempts to do more labeled them as
overly ambitious, and drove them to the doghouse, keeping them further away
from the room of governance.
Well, that’s the Nigerian story.
Your authority is limited as a
vice/deputy.
You have the security escorts and the
‘Your Excellency’ title before your name.
But that song by Snap “I’ve got the
power” isn’t your sound track and is way down the bottom of your playlist.
It’s especially disappointing for those
who come in with visions and plans. It doesn’t matter to those who come in just
for the glitz of it and the money.
The people you represent who have no
idea what truly goes on in the state affairs are disappointed in you that you
haven’t built roads and transformed your LGA to a mini Mecca, they don’t
understand how you’re silenced in talks about projects. So they haul insults at
you and boo you.
Only those close to you see your
frustration as you go out for another funeral, another wedding, and another
representative/ceremonial role, and resignedly promise an investor that you can only show his proposal and only hope the man in charge sees the vision as you do and approves.
And the day a little power is given to
you because the boss is on leave... where you're tagged 'acting governor' or 'acting president' there’s a limit, and its really all just an act. You can’t quickly approve
those projects that would make the administration shine because there’s only so
much your leash allows you sign. A minimum that is only good to pay for say,
another state sponsored funeral or wedding and not to commision a project.
You pay a price for your dashed dreams of changing the world. When you
come out to stand on your own, the umbrella, which shelter you stood under,
becomes a hindrance for you, becasue the people say you did nothing for them when you were in position, even when the little you did was such a personal victory for you.
But bless you if you have a secure
like-minded head that is open to progress.
He’s so secure in himself, he doesn’t
think you want to outshine him, knowing that your shinning is the shine of the
administration, his shine. Plus he’ll be willing to
support your bid to take over from him when your tenure is over and continue the good work.
We are Gods’ representatives on earth.
Some would say His deputies/assistants. But to avoid any mistaken identity role that says we’re just ceremonial
figure heads on earth, He tells us “ye are Gods.” (Psalm 82:6, John 10:34)
We are Gods. As He is, so are we.
With the same authority as He has.
Miracle workers. Vessels of honor. Holy. RIghteous.
Only an absolutely secure governor
would give so much power to his deputy.
God is secure in Himself that He has
given us the power and authority to govern and rule the earth.
All authority in heaven and earth has
been given to us. Our shinning, and righteous rule on earth gives glory to Him.
“ Then Jesus came close to them and said, “All the authority of the universe has been given to me” Matthew 28:18 and this authority Christ has, He has
given us…“ I will give you the keys (authority) of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind [forbid, declare to be improper and unlawful] on earth will have [already] been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose [permit, declare lawful] on earth will have [already] been loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:19(AMP)
“Listen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread on serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (Satan); and nothing will [in any way] harm you.” Luke 10:19(AMP)
The beauty of a God who loves us, and
has called us according to His power to rule with Him. To subdue the earth and
dominate.(Gen 1:28)
Don’t let the worlds system relegate
you to a corner as a frustrated assistant.
Don’t wait for God to stop harassments
in your world (family, businesses, health) when you’ve got the power. (You truly can sing that song to yourself)
He’s approved every project: whatever
you refuse on earth (in your space) is refused in heaven.
If only more christian stood in their authority in Christ, 'prayer houses' would be out of business and they'd be less false prophets.
I heard this said by a preacher in December…
“Learn to stand in your authority in
Christ and resist the devil constantly hence walk in victory always.”
How apt!
